Everton join the race for Harry Maguire

Everton have reportedly joined the race to sign Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.

That’s according to a report from TEAMtalk.

They suggest that the Toffees would like to bolster their defensive options this summer and are planning to raise funds to bid for the England centre-back.

It has been long understood that United value Maguire at £50m.

However, I would be shocked if we got that for him.

I think United would find it difficult to reject anything higher than £35m for their former skipper.

At the same time, I can see why Ten Hag would keep him for another year, but that probably isn’t the best option for the player.

Sources close to Maguire have maintained that he is happy at Old Trafford and wants to fight for his place.

West Ham have already had a bid rejected by United for Maguire and it remains to be seen if the Hammers will make a second offer.
