Manchester United have been conducting an internal investigation into Mason Greenwood since his charges were dropped.
According to The Guardian, Manchester United expect to announce their decision regarding Greenwood’s future at the club before the new season kicks-off against Wolves at Old Trafford.
Fabrizio Romano ran a similar update this afternoon on Twitter.
The 21-year-old has not played for United since 22 January 2022 because he was arrested that month and in October of that year he was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
All serious charges but Greenwood denied it all and the Crown Prosecution Service dropped all of the charges.
There’s now a strong suggestion that we will know the outcome of United’s internal inquiry soon.
We can expect a big backlash if Greenwood is reinstated to the first team. And, it’s worth noting how the young forward is not being linked with a move elsewhere.
More when we have it.
