Luke Shaw has hinted at new signings and outlined what Erik ten Hag is expecting of the squad for the 2023/2024 campaign.

Manchester United kick off their season on August 14 against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford, so they’ll be waiting that bit longer than their other Premier League opponents to see in the new term.

It’ll be a new-look United too, with the additions of Mason Mount and Andre Onana. The latter replaces David de Gea between the sticks after his 12-year stint as No.1, which will take some getting used to for supporters.

As well as the duo, United are now awaiting the arrival of Rasmus Hojlund – the man who has been deemed high-quality enough to fill the striker void up front. The 20-year-old will have the world watching, but fans will certainly be patient with the youngster as he takes the time to adjust to England’s top division.

Shaw has his say

Shaw spoke out during this busy summer for the Reds in a chat with Sky Sports.

The left-back said: “To be successful we need to be challenging for every trophy and winning competitions. We felt like we could’ve added another two competitions [trophies] last season and we should’ve, but now – this is a big season for us. We’ve already signed some very good players and hopefully, there’s more additions to come to strengthen the squad.

“We have to believe that we can win as many trophies as possible this season. Last season we did some very good things but we know what we needed to improve on, especially the away form and I think if we get that form right, we can be at the top of the table challenging.”
