Manchester United’s summer transfer action so far – incomings and departures

Manchester United have had a packed summer so far, with players arriving at Carrington for the first time and numerous saying their goodbyes.

Transfer ins:

Mason Mount: The 24-year-old ended his 18-year association with Chelsea to make the switch from Blue to Red earlier in July. He arrives to bolster Erik ten Hag’s midfield on a five-year deal worth £55 million.

Jonny Evans: Former Red Evans has re-joined the club on a short-term deal to keep his fitness levels up ahead of a potential move to another club this window, following his exit from recently-relegated Leicester City.

Andre Onana: The Cameroon international succeeds David de Gea between the sticks at Old Trafford for a fee of £47.2m – an instant payment, like Slotsoo provides, that looks certain to pay off!

Rasmus Hojlund (TBA): Ten Hag finally has his striker in the form of the young Dane. It was confirmed yesterday that United and Atalanta had agreed a package worth £72m to see Hojlund make the switch to the Premier League.

Transfer outs:

David de Gea: After being United’s No.1 for 12 years, De Gea’s stay in M16 ended when his contract expired in June. He is yet to find a new destination but leaves the club a legend for all his efforts and contributions as a Red.

Alex Telles: Telles completed a permanent move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr – where he’ll reunite with ex-United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

Charlie Savage: The youngster made a permanent switch to League One outfit Reading.

Anthony Elanga: Carrington graduate Elanga will stay in the Premier League but has made the move to the East Midlands to join Nottingham Forest.

Zidane Iqbal & Bjorn Handley: The pair have joined Eredivisie club FC Utrecht.

Ethan Laird: Laird signed for Championship side Birmingham City, so will be hoping to play a key role in the squad as they seek promotion to the top flight.

Ethan Galbraith: Another Carrington product leaves permanently, with Galbraith moving to Leyton Orient.

Manni Norkett: Norkett will join Elanga at the City Ground with Forest, though he may not feature for the first-team just yet.

The Red Devils kick off their 2023/2024 campaign against Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 14 at Old Trafford, though they have three remaining pre-season fixtures until then against Borussia Dortmund, FC Lens and Athletic Club respectively.

Ten Hag will be looking to build on a promising season – the first of his tenure – and compete on all fronts throughout the term.
