Manchester United dealt further injury blow to midfielder following Kobbie Mainoo scare

Manchester United have two injury concerns to deal with as they prepare to face Borussia Dortmund on Monday.

The Red Devils sustained a 2-0 defeat to European giants Real Madrid in the early hours of Thursday morning, with Erik ten Hag deploying a heavily-rotated side from the one that faced Wrexham.

Despite the strong starting XI, the result ultimately ended the same. Goals from starlet Jude Bellingham, which was later confirmed to be offside, and Joselu swayed the win in the Spaniard’s favour as United failed to conjure a response.

Scorelines mean very little in pre-season though, and instead, supporters finished the game with one lingering concern – Kobbie Mainoo’s fitness. The 18-year-old left the pitch early with an apparent foot injury after a scintillating few matches in which he showed his potential to fans.

As well as that, Simon Stone confirmed that following the full-time whistle,  Scott McTominay was visibly in pain nursing “what looks like a knee injury”.

Definitely the last thing Ten Hag needs right now, with the new season less than three weeks away.
