Manchester United are not willing to part ways with Scott McTominay for less than £40 million, according to reports.

West Ham have long been seen as admirers of the Scotland international, but the Daily Mirror claims the Hammers have been put off by United’s valuation of the midfielder.

McTominay, 26, knows since last season that his game time will be limited at Old Trafford. Mason Mount’s arrival this summer will only make it more difficult for him to earn a place in Erik ten Hag’s preferred line-up.

Casemiro will be our anchor in midfield and we’ve also got Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen available.

At the same time, United’s reluctance to accept less than £40m for McTominay is understandable. Especially for West Ham after they just pocketed £105m for Declan Rice.

McTominay’s contract is not up until the summer of 2025 and United have an option to extend that by a further year.

After selling Anthony Elanga to Nottingham Forest this week, the report also states that United are open to offers for Harry Maguire, Fred and Dean Henderson.
