Former Italy star Gianluca Pagiluca has claimed that Manchester United’s new signing is worth £100 million.

The Red Devils confirmed this weekend that Andre Onana had joined the club from Inter Milan in a deal worth £47m.

He succeeds David de Gea between the sticks at Old Trafford after the Spaniard’s 12-year stay with the club came to an end following the expiration of his contract this summer.

Erik ten Hag was keen to acquire a ‘keeper that was able to play out from the back, something that Onana is renowned for. The manager is also well acquainted with his latest recruit too, due to the time they spent together at Ajax.

He is yet to make his debut for the club but will likely feature over the coming weeks on United’s pre-season tour before making his official debut when Premier League action returns.

Pagiluca on Onana

Pagiluca spoke on the Cameroonian to SempreInter following his scintillating performance in the Champions League final, saying: “In my opinion, he was the best player on the pitch. I really liked his performance a lot. The sense of security he spreads, his ball distribution, the decisive saves, especially the ones that look easy but in reality are very difficult.

“He really did well. He gave me a sense of security, had a fantastic game. If a foreign club were to arrive and offered 100 million, Inter would do well to sell him. Otherwise, unless a huge offer arrives, I think Inter will keep him.”
