It has emerged that prospective buyers of Manchester United fear the Glazer family won’t sell the club this summer.
The leading bidders for Manchester United are Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar and INEOS CEO Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
In November 2022, the Glazers announced plans to seek external investment and there was hope that a takeover would be compete before the transfer window.
However, it is looking increasingly likely that the takeover saga will drag on for longer.
The Daily Mail claims that there are concerns among those involved in the bidding about whether the Glazers still want to sell the club.
The Glazers are being advised by the Raine Group and all bidders have signed NDAs.
This news will only frustrate United fans more because the entire process has been a complete farce.
It is also suggested that the Glazers/Raine Group have approached both bidders asking them to raise their offers, but both requests were declined.
Mike Keegan reports: “Attempts have been made to raise those bids. They have not been successful.”
You can’t blame fans for fearing the Glazers will strap in, stick around, and continue ruining our football club which they see as a commercial cash cow.
It sounds like the Glazers are pushing for £6 billion, while the offers on the table value the club at closer to £5 billion.
