Chelsea are ‘not interested’ in signing Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, despite reports elsewhere saying otherwise.

That’s according to The Guardian, and it casts further uncertainty for Harry Maguire’s future.

The United captain is being strongly linked with an exit from Old Trafford after being stripped of the captaincy and losing his place in the team.

As a result, Maguire played in just half of United’s 62 matches last season, falling to fifth in the centre-back pecking order by the end of the campaign.

I haven’t spoken to one person who thinks Maguire can get back into the United team — ahead of Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof or even Luke Shaw — so he would be best moving to pastures new.

However, Chelsea are one of the clubs that have been linked with a move for Maguire this summer. Everyone is waiting to see how they react to the prospect of Wesley Fofana missing most of the season.

Chelsea have sold Kalidou Koulibaly and their current options consist of Thiago Silva, Benoit Badiashile, Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah.

Perhaps United can persuade West Ham or Tottenham to make an offer for Maguire?
