Chelsea could ramp up their pursuit of Harry Maguire in the coming weeks.

According to 90min, the Blues are mulling over a move for the centre-back after it was confirmed that Wesley Fofana would spend the majority of the 2023/2024 campaign on the sidelines recovering from reconstructive surgery on his ACL – the last thing any manager needs to hear less than four weeks before the campaign kicks off.

Speculation was already circulating suggesting that Mauricio Pochettino could approach Maguire for a potential switch to Stamford Bridge, but now the rumours are gaining traction.

The England international faces an uncertain future with the Red Devils this summer, after a term in which his game time was reduced significantly. At the weekend, he confirmed that he would no longer be the club’s captain moving forward following discussions with Erik ten Hag, so Maguire will likely be considering all options now.
