West Ham United have reportedly had a loan bid for Harry Maguire rejected.
That’s according to The Guardian, which confirms that the centre-back is mulling over his future at Manchester United after being told by Erik ten Hag that he would no longer be the club captain moving forward.
The Red Devils will listen to offers that arrive for Maguire, however, they have quickly dismissed West Ham’s loan + option to buy proposal.
David Moyes and the Irons board feel as though United’s asking price for Maguire is too high, so whether or not they’ll return with a permanent offer remains to be seen. They certainly have the cash to spend after Declan Rice’s £105 million move to Arsenal, though.
United keen to recuperate some funds for Maguire
Maguire, 30, is an established England international whose form has never really faltered for his nation, so you can’t overly blame United for wanting to recuperate some of the funds they paid for him.
That being said, his performances at club level have often been below par, so they’re well aware that they’ll get nowhere near the £80m they forked out for him.
