Manchester United star rejects offers from Saudi Arabia as he expects to be made club captain

Bruno Fernandes Harry Maguire captain armband

Bruno Fernandes has turned down two lucrative offers from Saudi Arabian clubs, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Portuguese midfielder is one of many high-profile players to be approached by a Saudi Pro League side, with the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson the latest Premier League stars to be mulling over a big-money move.

However, Fernandes was quick to rebut their proposals as he prepares to potentially be made the new Manchester United captain; Harry Maguire confirmed yesterday that Erik ten Hag wants a new Red to take the armband moving forward after three years of the centre-back holding the esteemed role.

Fernandes to be promoted to captain

Last season, Fernandes donned the armband considerably more than Maguire due to the latter’s lack of game time, so it makes sense that he will be promoted from the vice-captain’s position. However, which player will now fall second in line for such duties remains to be seen.
