‘Ten Hag is building the team he wants’ – Andy Mitten’s verdict on Maguire being dropped as captain

Harry Maguire is no longer Manchester United captain.

The England international announced that he has been stripped of captaincy duties after a conversation with Erik ten Hag.

After losing his place in the team and falling down the pecking order last season, it should come as no surprise, although his response has been praised by former United defender Gary Neville.

United We Stand editor Andy Mitten appeared on Sky Sports News this morning to discuss the announcement.

Ten Hag has been ruthless since becoming United manager and the fans will back him after a successful first season at the club. However, Mitten rightly suggests that his team slightly overachieved last term and it will be interesting to see how they build on that next term.

Chelsea will be better than they were last season and the same could be said for Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp adding new midfielders to his squad as well as getting rid of deadwood.
