Fabrizio Romano explains Harry Maguire could stay at Manchester United

Fabrizio Romano provided a further update on the transfer window this morning, including snippets of information that will interest Manchester United fans.

In his latest column for CaughtOffside, the Italian journalist explains that today and tomorrow could be crucial in the Andre Onana transfer saga.

The Inter Milan goalkeeper is closing in on a switch to Manchester United, with Erik ten Hag pushing hard to sign a replacement for the first-team travels to the United States for pre-season tour.

Romano also touched on Harry Maguire’s future and it looks like the uncertainty surrounding that could drag on for the rest of the transfer window.

The journalist explains that he’s aware of reports on Maguire’s price tag proving an issue, but he adds that no-one is signing centre-backs at the moment.

“I’m aware of reports on Harry Maguire’s price tag proving an issue, but I think it’s a normal moment on the market where almost no one is signing centre-backs, apart from Tottenham working on some players in that position. So it’s understandable if United are struggling to find buyers, because the domino has not started yet. Maguire remains unavailable on the market for sure. But he’s also prepared to fight for his place in case nothing will happen. He will speak to Erik ten Hag in the next days.”

Tottenham are named as a club in the market for new centre-backs but, ultimately, the domino effect has not started yet.

Romano adds that Maguire will speak to Erik ten Hag in the coming days.
