Tommy Møller Nielsen: Manchester United lead tributes to late scout

Manchester United have led the tributes to Tommy Møller Nielsen after his death at the age of 61.

The sad news was announced by his wife on Monday, and a cause of death had not been confirmed by the family at the time of writing.

Nielsen had been working at United as a senior scout since he was hired by Jose Mourinho back in 2016. He acted as a consultant while the club considered whether to sign Christian Eriksen as a free transfer.

A club statement reads: “Manchester United is deeply saddened by the death of Tommy Møller Nielsen, a senior scout for the club since 2016. Tommy was a highly respected member of our scouting team, valued for his experience and knowledge gained from over 30 years in coaching and scouting positions in Scandinavia and Scotland.

“Everyone at the club sends our sincerest condolences to Tommy’s family and we are in touch with them to offer any support possible at this incredibly difficult time.”
