Manchester United announce Mason Mount as first summer signing with video teaser

Mason Mount has officially become a Manchester United player – becoming Erik ten Hag’s first signing of the summer transfer window.

It was reported shortly after the end of the 2022/23 season that personal terms wouldn’t be an issue for Mount, who was showing early signs that he wanted to sign for Manchester United.

The Chelsea academy graduate, 24, was being monitored by Ten Hag for a long time and he opted against signing any extension offers that have been put to him by the Blues.

Ten Hag was leaving no stone unturned in his pursuit to sign Mount and he’s finally got his man.

The club tweeted an unveiling video to hint their Mount announcement at 10:30am via @ManUtd.

Earlier this morning, Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy claims Mount “ticks all the core traits” that Ten Hag looks for in a midfielder without the ball while “being comfortable as a creator” at the same time.

Mount will sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford for an initial £250,000-a-week, which can increase to £300,000 if he meets various performance-related add-ons.

It’s quite a jump from the deal he was on at Stamford Bridge where he earned £80,000-a-week.
