Rome are reportedly eyeing a move for Manchester United’s Scott McTominay.
That’s according to Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, who has confirmed the Serie A club’s interest in the 26-year-old.
Should a deal be agreed, it would see McTominay reunite with former United boss Jose Mourinho.
It has previously been reported that Erik ten Hag is open to offers for the Carrington graduate this summer but the club are in no rush to sell him, as he is a reliable, senior option in the middle of the park.
However, offloading McTominay would recuperate funds that can be used to bolster the squad this summer. Ten Hag is keen on adding a new striker, goalkeeper and potentially another midfielder, and having just parted with £55 million for Mason Mount, funds may be tight unless the club oversees numerous departures.
McTominay attracting Premier League interest
Newcastle United have been heavily linked with a move for McTominay in the past so whether or not they’ll reignite their pursuit over the coming weeks remains to be seen.
He was reduced to more of an off-the-bench role last term due to the club’s additions of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, who were Ten Hag’s first-choice duo over the likes of McTominay and Fred.
