Qatari media suggests Manchester United takeover could be agreed soon

A takeover for Manchester United could be agreed ‘in the next few hours’, according to Qatari media.

Manchester United fans have protested against the Glazer family for over 18-years, but in November they announced plans to ‘seek strategic alternatives’ for the club, including a possible takeover.

Since then it has appeared as a two-horse race to take control from the Glazer family at Old Trafford. Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and INEOS’ Sir Jim Ratcliffe have featured in all rounds of bidding, although their offers are completely different.

Sheikh Jassim wants full control of United, while Ratcliffe is settling for a controlling stake that would see the Glazers remain with less say in how the club is going to be run.

However, fresh claims in Qatar claims Sheikh Jassim could be set to win the race to become the club’s new owner.

Qatari media outlet Al Raya suggest it is ‘expected that the Manchester United purchase contract will be signed by the Glazer family that owns the club within the next few hours.’

This update comes after Rio Ferdinand’s vague transfer update via YouTube.

Fans are advised for a substantial update.

Especially when there’s been a lot of questionable reporting from Qatari media around the takeover of United.
