Erik Ten Hag is understood to be a big admirer of Facundo Pellistri.

The Dutch coach has closely followed the progress of the Uruguayan winger, who was signed from Penarol in 2020, and appears to have been impressed by his potential and skill set.

Pellistri, 21, initially faced a challenging transition, however, after being promoted to the club’s first team last season following back-to-back loan spells with Spanish side Alves, the South American did well to rival the likes of Antony and Jadon Sancho.

And consequently, according to a recent report from the Manchester Evening News, United have now opened talks with their talented number 28 over a new and improved long-term contract.

It remains to be seen whether or not United will opt to loan Pellistri out again next season, but one thing is for sure – as Ten Hag’s admiration for the 21-year-old becomes evident, the youngster can draw inspiration and motivation from the support of such an esteemed coach. With a promising career ahead of him, Pellistri has the opportunity to develop further under the guidance of the Dutchman and can aim to fulfil his potential.
