Manchester United youngster Mateo Mejia has signed a new contract with the club.
His previous deal was due to expire in three days but when United announced their retained list with his name on it, supporters anticipated that an extension was on the way.
Manchester Evening News has reported that the 20-year-old is expected to depart the club on loan next season. He is yet to make his senior debut with the Red Devils but has featured in first-team training sessions across the past season.
Mejia signed from Real Zaragoza in 2019 and is deemed an exciting prospect by those that follow the Academy. He scored two goals and assisted four for the U21s last term.
Mejia could feature on tour
Erik ten Hag may utilise the youngster on United’s pre-season tour, which kicks off on July 12 against rivals Leeds United. It provides the Dutchman with the opportunity to test out his youth players and determine who may be ready for the transition to the first team.
