Manchester United and Chelsea have re-opened negotiations over Mason Mount.
The Red Devils have seen three bids rejected for the 24-year-old, with their most recent offer being £55 million in total.
Despite having just one year left on his contract, Chelsea value Mount at closer to £75m, though after quickly realising they would not obtain such a fee, they’ve lowered their asking price to £65m.
Still, the price is significantly high for a player that United can sign for nothing next summer.
United and Chelsea optimistic in Mount talks
Daily Mail has reported that Erik ten Hag and his entourage will not overpay for Mount but are open to entering talks regarding an improved proposal.
The article adds that there is “a sense” a deal can be agreed, which would make the England international the first arrival through the doors at Carrington this summer.
Until then though, Mount will return to Cobham for pre-season duty on Monday. The Reds will report back to their training base in two stages ahead of their opening tour fixture on July 12.
