Manchester United will hold further talks with Chelsea this week in attempt to seal a deal to sign Mason Mount.
Chelsea have rejected three bids from Manchester United – to latest believed to be worth £50 million plus performance-related add-ons worth £5 million.
In response to United’s third bid, Chelsea briefed that they would accept an offer in the region of £65m for the England international.
According to The Telegraph, United are willing to negotiate around the structure and finer points of their £55m offer and will hold talks with Chelsea this week.
The main objective for this meeting is to find a common ground, but United know that overspending on Mount will take a chunk out of the budget when we still need to sign a goalscorer and goalkeeper.
Chelsea players are due back for pre-season training and I’m sure Mount would prefer to have his future solved by then.
On another note, Erik ten Hag should have his primary targets before pre-season begins. It shows a repeat of previous summers under the Glazer ownership.
Hopefully United can get a deal across the line for Mount without overspending on a player with one year left on his current contract.
