Manchester United have launched a third and final £55 million bid for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.

The Chelsea midfielder has supposedly made his intentions clear to Chelsea – that he will not agree new terms at Stamford Bridge and he wants to join Manchester United.

Mount, 24, has a year remaining on his current deal.

United’s second bid – rejected earlier this week – was worth £45m plus a further £5m in performance-related add-ons. The third offer is understood to be worth up to £55m.

However, Chelsea are believed to be coveting £60m up front with a further £7m in add-ons.

United will be keen to avoid a long drawn-out saga.
