Chelsea have rejected Manchester United’s third bid for Mason Mount, as confirmed by The Athletic.
The Red Devils’ latest offer was £55 million in total – £50m plus £5m in add-ons.
However, this has still not met Chelsea’s valuation of their academy graduate, who provided the assist that led them to their second Champions League title in 2021.
They are keen to reach an agreement though, especially as Mount has made his desire to make the switch to Old Trafford evident. His contract will expire at the end of next season and he is unwilling to sign a new deal.
Chelsea make counter-offer
Chelsea have returned with a proposal of £58m + £7m in add-ons to seal the transfer and have offered to meet in person for a quick resolution.
It was reported earlier that United’s latest offer would be their final one and they are adamant that they will not overpay for the 24-year-old, so whether or not this £65m fee is above their price range remains to be seen.
