Manchester United will reportedly turn to Brighton and Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo if they fail to sign Mason Mount.

That’s according to The Guardian, which confirms that while the Red Devils are confident in overseeing a deal for Mount, they have lined up the Seagulls midfielder as an alternative, with Chelsea already in active pursuit of him.

United have had two bids rejected for Mount; the latest came yesterday and was for £45 million plus £5 million in add-ons but was swiftly rebutted by the London club as they value their academy graduate closer to £70 million.

The 24-year-old has just one year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge and United believe they can use this factor to their advantage – if his club does not sanction his exit this summer, they risk losing him for free next year.

However, new manager Mauricio Pochettino would like to keep Mount in his squad and may try and persuade the Englishman to stay at the team he’s been at since he was six years old.
