Marcus Rashford set to become Manchester United’s highest earner

Marcus Rashford is closing in on the biggest contract of his career as he continues to be locked in talks with Manchester United over a new long-term contract.

The 25-year-old, who enjoyed a career-best season this year as he broke the 30-goal mark for the first time, is out of contract at the end of next season after the club exercised their option to extend his existing deal for an additional season.

Erik ten Hag has publicly admitted that he is confident that Rashford will commit his long-term future to the club but the winger is yet to put pen to paper on fresh terms.

Now, it looks like there may have been a breakthrough in talks as it is being reported that Rashford is now set to become the club’s highest earner when he signs his new deal.

That’s according to The Sun, who say that Rashford will almost double his wages from £200,000 per week to approximately £375,000 per week – the same wages David de Gea is currently on.

As per the report, Rashford will now move to the top of the club’s earners whilst De Gea has been offered a greatly reduced deal at £200,000 per week.

It’s claimed that Rashford, despite the ongoing speculations surrounding his future and interest from elsewhere, sees his future at the Theatre of Dreams and the manager has been confident of a happy ending.

SN’s verdict…
United have made a habit of giving out contracts to players who have not deserved it but this is definitely not one of those cases. Rashford has scored 20 or more goals in three of the last four seasons and his most recent campaign was breathtaking.

The sky is the limit for Rashford and under Ten Hag, there is a clear development plan and it is becoming increasingly obvious that the manager views him as one of the building blocks of his revolution.

United must now work to get the deal over the line sooner rather than later and now allow any speculation to disrupt preparations for next season.

  1. just to put that wage into perspective that is the same wage as haaland and 25k less than de bruyne.

the idea that rashford deserves a similar amount is obviously ridiculous but typical of the united fanbase and unfortunately even more typical of the braindead board.
