Numerous Manchester United players received international call-ups following the conclusion of the 2022/2023 campaign.

Consequently, they can’t start their summer holidays just yet.

Several Reds were in action across the nations this week, here’s a run-down of who played and how they got on.

Facundo Pellistri – Uruguay vs Nicaragua

Pellistri started for Uruguay, played 90 minutes, and was a standout performer for his national team. He contributed two assists in their 4-1 win, one of which came after a scintillating run that showcased his blistering pace and clever footwork.

Alejandro Garnacho – Argentina vs Australia

It was certainly a week that Garnacho won’t be forgetting in a hurry, as he made his senior debut for the world champions during their 2-0 victory. The 18-year-old came off the bench to make a 16-minute cameo and featured alongside seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi.

Tyrell Malacia & Wout Weghorst – Netherlands vs Croatia

Netherlands exited the Nations League in the semi-finals after a 4-2 loss to Croatia in extra-time. Malacia featured for 15 minutes and picked up a yellow card.

Holland will play this evening in a third-place play-off against Italy.

Christian Eriksen – Denmark vs Northern Ireland

Eriksen played the full 90 minutes in Denmark’s narrow 1-0 win over Northern Ireland in their Euro 2024 qualifier.

Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire & Marcus Rashford – England vs Malta

The trio of Reds all made appearances in England’s Euro qualifier – both defenders started the game while Rashford came on as a substitute. They’ll be granted home comforts in the Three Lions’ next outing, as tomorrow’s fixture against North Macedonia takes place at Old Trafford.

Zidane Iqbal – Iraq vs Colombia

Unfortunately, the youngster sustained an injury prior to Iraq’s friendly with Colombia and was sidelined for the game.

Hannibal – Tunisia vs Equatorial Guinea

Hannibal started the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier but was withdrawn in injury time as his side sustained a 1-0 defeat.

Scott McTominay – Scotland vs Norway

The Carrington graduate always plays a key role for Scotland and did yesterday, when they came from behind to overturn Norway 2-1 in their Euro qualifier to maintain their perfect record. McTominay started and played the full match.

Bruno Fernandes & Diogo Dalot – Portugal vs Bosnia and Herzegovina

Fernandes stole the show for his nation with an emphatic display that saw him contribute a brace and an assist. He set up Bernardo Silva’s opening goal before heading home to extend Portugal’s lead and added to his tally with an excellent volley that the goalkeeper had no chance of stopping. Dalot was an unused substitute.

Casemiro & Alex Telles – Brazil vs Guinea

Casemiro captained his side to a 4-1 victory while Telles remained on the bench.

Anthony Elanga – Sweden vs New Zealand

Elanga made a 30-minute cameo in Sweden’s friendly and managed to find the back of the net to seal a 4-1 win. His clever finish marked his third senior international goal.

Eric Bailly – Ivory Coast vs Zambia
