A bidder has not yet been chosen by Raine Group and the Glazer family in Manchester United’s potential takeover.
While Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe remain frontrunners, the Daily Mail understands that new ownership may not be rubber-stamped when the new season starts.
The timeline given in the report ranges between a further eight to 12 weeks – which would be the duration of the ‘approval process’ which would follow before a deal is officially approved.
In turn, that means Erik ten Hag and his team will start the 2023/24 season with the Glazers still technically in control.
United’s season starts on August 14 against Wolves at Old Trafford.
The report also states that there will be no impact on United’s summer transfer business, with Ten Hag’s budget set at around £120 million, which leaves the Dutchman with no other choice but to sell players.
There has been a frenzy among supporters in recent days due to conflicting reports across the globe. One report from the US appeared to claim that United were ‘negotiating granting exclusivity’ to Qatari consortium Nine Two Foundation.
However, those claims were dismissed by those with knowledge of the process. It is understood that both parties have been told how a exclusivity period would work.
It is stressed again in the report that a decision is expected imminently, although the approval process won’t happen overnight and might not be wrapped up until the new football season kicks off.
This will come as no surprise since the Glazers have been known to drag their heels during the process. All in attempt to squeeze the last cent out of the club.

Unbelievable even we are going to empty handed season again WTF is going on. can’t they sell the club right away without too many corners in the process. we need 5 new faces in terms of transfers now and £120m is available of which not enough for the signings needed, Glazer out within immediate effect and don’t cause commotion to fans who love the club with all there hearts.
This is not good for us who love the team because the season will start un empty stomach without new signings. The Blazers shoulder the bill which they will recover after finishing the takeover prolonging the process is killing us
It is time united supporter start endlessly protest until the so called grazer family leave the club. It will fasyen the process
The Glazer family do not have the club’s best interests at heart, otherwise they would have nominated their preferred bidder as early as possible so as to allow Man Utd to participate fully in the summer transfer window
What’s wrong with these GREEDY GLAZERS ???. Are they that hard up for money or power or just love fg with the fans of United and love playing God !!!!!.
Glazers have no heart for the team! They just need to make money out of our team, and we have seen this for several years!
Let them decide now before it’s too late!
