Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has been strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge after turning down contract proposals from the London club.

The 24-year-old midfielder has reportedly agreed personal terms with Manchester United, so there’s a deal in the pipeline.

It’s just a matter of reaching an agreement with Chelsea which is proving tricky at the moment.

United have already had a bid worth £40 million rejected for the England international, as per Ben Jacobs, but the journalist claims the Reds are now prepared to return with a second and improved offer.

Jacobs also suggests that United won’t go above £60m for Mount – so you’d think Chelsea will just hold out for that offer to come through.

Mount has been a key player for Chelsea since breaking into their first-team. It’s going to hurt their match-going fans if he’s wearing a United shirt next season, especially since he is one of their academy graduates.

Furthermore, he is only 24 and he is likely to improve under Erik ten Hag’s guidance.
