Manchester United have released Carrington graduate Di’Shon Bernard following the expiration of his contract.
Bernard made one senior appearance for the Reds in a Europa League away clash against Astana in 2019.
He completed numerous loan spells throughout his progression in the academy, including Salford City and Hull City.
More recently, the 22-year-old spent the second half of the 2022/2023 campaign on loan at Portsmouth, where he made 10 appearances for the League One club.
It is rumoured that Pompey may pursue Bernard on a permanent deal, as they look to improve on their eighth-placed finish from last term.
Bernard says goodbye to United
The London-born defender took to Instagram to express his gratitude to the club and say his goodbyes to the supporters, staff and teammates.
Given the chances he would’ve had at starting in the United first-team, the decision to not extend his contract was a wise one. This way, he’s able to find a suitable club as a free agent where he can be granted adequate game time and continue to develop his skills in senior football.
