Manchester United consider loan move for suspended Mason Greenwood

Manchester United will consider sending Mason Greenwood out on loan next season.

The club are still carrying out an internal investigation into the striker, who saw charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault dropped in February.

While the media push United into making a decision this summer, it is understood that the final call will be made by the Glazer family along with Richard Arnold.

However, the Daily Mail claim that officials are looking into a move that would see Greenwood move abroad for up to a year.

The 21-year-old’s possible destinations include Italy, Spain and Turkey.

This sounds like it could be an attempt to send Greenwood away for 12 months, with the hope that less controversy surrounds him if he was to play for United again. However, there are no guarantees that will be the case because lots of fans have already made their mind up about the academy graduate.

The Mail suggests United could decide to release the player should they find he brought the club into disrepute, or they could complete the review and send him abroad to give them more time to reflect on Greenwood’s case.

Mike Keegan reports: “The situation is a complex one. United are wary of the views of the dressing room of both their men’s and women’s teams. It is also further complicated by the ongoing takeover process at Old Trafford.”

As things stand, Greenwood is still suspended by the club.

And on a further note, I’m sure the Glazers would rather leave this decision up to someone else. The American family don’t care about anything unless it includes dollar signs.
