Phil Jones expresses gratitude to United fans and says he’ll be in attendance at Wembley for FA Cup final

Phil Jones has thanked Manchester United fans for their support after it was confirmed he would be leaving the club this summer.

Earlier this month, United announced that Jones would be leaving as a free agent at the end of the season after 12 years as a Red.

His departure means David de Gea is now the last remaining player to have worked with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Jones’ career was unfortunately plagued by injuries towards the later stages. His last first-team start came against Wolverhampton Wanderers last January in a Premier League clash at Old Trafford, whilst his final appearance was against Brentford in May 2022.

He came on as a substitute to see out the Reds’ 3-0 victory.

The Englishman won a Premier League title, FA Cup and Europa League throughout his time at Old Trafford.

Jones will attend FA Cup final

Jones took to Twitter this morning to express his gratitude to the United faithful and confirmed that he would be at Wembley this Saturday to support the team in the first-ever Manchester derby FA Cup final.

His tweet reads: “I want to express my thanks for the incredible love and support over the last week. I’ve known how special the United fans are, but this week has shown just how special. I hope you enjoy the FA Cup Final, I’ll be supporting the lads in the stands, backing them just as much as you.”
