Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani is yet to hear back from the Glazer family regarding his last bid for Manchester United.
The Qatar-based billionaire was involved in all three rounds of bidding for the club, with the latest deadline coming on Friday, April 28.
Speculation then emerged that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is the other investor bidding for a majority takeover, was leading the race and valued United higher than Sheikh Jassim.
Another factor that is helping the Englishman’s case is that he is offering co-chairmen Joel and Avram the chance to retain minority shares for around two years after the sale is completed.
This led to the Qatari banker lodging an 11th-hour ‘take it or leave it’ proposal to try and sway the Glazers into parting ways with their shares. It was submitted on May 16 and according to Jamie Jackson, he has not received a response.
Glazers digging their heels fuels frustrations
Fans are growing frustrated with the lack of updates and clarity regarding the ownership of the club, especially as we approach the opening of the summer transfer window – one that will be crucial for United if they want to compete on all fronts next season.
Erik ten Hag is likely feeling the annoyance more than anyone, as he is the man poised with the task of leading the team to glory and silverware.
Until he is made aware of a transfer budget and plans for the future of the team, acquiring reinforcements over the coming months may be more difficult than he initially feared.
