Manchester United set £10m asking price for forward with one start in six months

Manchester United will need to lower their valuations on certain players to secure the sales Erik ten Hag needs to add to his squad this summer.

Along with a limited transfer budget, if the Glazers remain in charge throughout the transfer window, the Reds must play by the rules when it comes to Financial Fair Play.

It is key that Ten Hag is able to get a number of players off the wage book, so United are left with no other choice but to cash in on players with cut price deals for interested clubs.

Ten Hag will be looking at his squad at the end of the season before deciding which players he would like to move on in the summer.

According to the Manchester Evening Evening, the first bit of cut pricing is taking place, with the club halving their asking price for Sweden international and academy graduate Anthony Elanga.

The report states United intended to loan Elanga, 20, next season but now it looks like his days could be numbered at Old Trafford after a £10 million price tag was put on his head.

Elanga has not played in the league since United’s 7-0 defeat at Anfield earlier this season. I think that tells you everything you need to know about whether Ten Hag has any plans for the Swede…

With one start in six months, perhaps Elanga is the one pushing for a move because he now has the taste for senior international football.

Elanga is a player I consider surplus to requirements but Ten Hag wouldn’t have him in or around the squad if he wasn’t a good professionals.
