Manchester United are making progress in their attempts to sign Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.

In previous articles we’ve looked at how Erik ten Hag has been tracking the England international since he embarked on a short loan spell in the Netherlands as a younger player looking to gain first-team experience.

Now it looks like Ten Hag will get his wish by adding Mount to his squad ahead of next season, although there is still some way to go in negotiations.

According to The Telegraph, Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Mount and are now expected to complete the signing of the Chelsea midfield ace.

Mount, 24, was wanted by Liverpool and Arsenal but it looks like United have beaten both rival clubs to the player’s signature.

Jason Burt reports: “United manager Erik ten Hag has been confident he can secure Mount and talks have progressed positively in recent days since the two clubs played each other last Thursday. Mount has one year left on his contract at Chelsea and appears determined to leave, with the club wanting to exact as high a fee as possible rather than lose him on a free transfer.”

Since Fulham are chasing Fred, Mount would be a significant upgrade. It’s a good signing to be getting done in the transfer window.
