Harry Maguire set for £10m Manchester United pay-off ahead of potential transfer

Harry Maguire is not leaving Manchester United empty-handed.

The skipper could pocket a £10 million pay-off from Manchester United if he leaves Old Trafford this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Maguire’s departure is widely expected after a difficult campaign for the England international.

After losing his place in the Manchester United line-up this season, Maguire is scheduled to meet with Erik ten Hag to discuss his future at the end of the season.

It is understood that Ten Hag is open minded about keeping Maguire, but he understands that the player is unhappy with his playing time at the club. That means it could be best for all parties involved to go their separate ways.

Saturday’s FA Cup final is likely to be Maguire’s last game as a United player, but he won’t be the only player in that boat.

Maguire joined United from Leicester City in 2019 and he is now valued a lot less than what we paid (£80m) for him back then. The Reds would be lucky to get £30m due to his age and the fact he is two-thirds of the way through a six-year deal.

The problem United face is getting players off the wage books. Maguire collects £190,000-a-week and he has another two years left on his current deal.

Maguire and his representatives know they won’t get the money elsewhere, so the Daily Mail claims United are going to foot a £10m wage bill to move him on quicker.

With news that United have halved Anthony Elanga’s asking price to £10m, it sounds like the club are actively trying to push certain players out the door to make room for new signings this summer.
