Manchester United are actively pursuing Mason Mount ahead of the summer transfer window’s opening on June 14.

According to Fabrizio Romano in today’s ‘Here we go’ podcast, the club are “really pushing behind the scenes” to complete a deal for the Chelsea star.

A previous report from The Athletic confirmed that the 24-year-old would prefer a move to Old Trafford over the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, with both clubs also in the race and monitoring his situation.

Mount mulls over Chelsea exit

Mount’s contract is set to expire at the end of the 2023/2024 campaign and currently, it looks as though he will opt against extending his stay at his boyhood club, where he has played since he was six years old.

Chelsea value their academy graduate at around £85 million, as per Mail Sport, but the Reds are lining up a £55 million bid to tempt the hierarchy at Stamford Bridge.

Given he could leave as a free agent next summer, the board may be more inclined to accept a reduced fee to get their money’s worth for the Champions League-winning midfielder.
