Donny van de Beek makes progress in recovery with knee injury

Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek has taken a significant step in his recovery from a long spell out with knee injury by returning to work on the ball at the club’s training ground.

The Netherlands international has been out of action for United since the Premier League win over Bournemouth back on January 3.

A nasty tackle from Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi led to Van de Beek’s campaign coming to a premature end.

Erik ten Hag was expected by some small sections to help get the best out of Van de Beek when he arrived at Old Trafford as manager.

It didn’t work out that way and he had to spend the past five months watching his team-mates from the treatment room.

Van de Beek has made 60 appearances for United since a £34m switch from Ajax in 2020. Injury restricted him to just 10 appearances this season but he was non-existent in a lot of those games.

According to the Daily Mail, Van de Beek has completed one-on-one ball sessions at United’s Carrington training base this week.

We knew for the past month that Van de Beek had been back at the training complex doing gym work and some light work on the grass.

There is bound to be questions over Van de Beek’s future once we reach the end of the season.

Who would take him?
