Reports in Portugal suggest FC Porto star Diogo Costa looks set to continue his career in the Premier League.
It looks like Costa’s second league campaign as a starter for Porto will be his last – after keeping an impressive 16 clean sheets.
Portuguese outlet A Bola claim Costa said goodbye to FC Porto after the recent game against V. Guimaraes.
A Bola add that Manchester United are interested in activating Costa’s €75m release clause since his current deal (signed in 2021) doesn’t expire until 30 June 2026.
Manchester United long-term admirers of Diogo Costa
Manchester United have been long linked with a move for Diogo Costa as a potential replacement for David de Gea.
De Gea cannot be guaranteed a starting place in the team next season and Erik ten Hag won’t give him those assurances. It remains to be seen if that will stop the Spaniard from agreeing terms over a deal deal – but why would he want to settle for a back up role?
Meanwhile, Portugal’s No 1 has been considered one of the best young goalkeepers in the world for the past year. He is well-renowned for his capabilities with the ball at his feet and his desire to sweep up the pitch.
At a time where more is demanded of goalkeepers than just shot-stopping, you can quickly see by watching Costa why Erik ten Hag would be drawn towards such a player.
The FC Porto goalie’s stock has risen massively in recent months, and he rose to even greater heights with his Champions League displays this term – most notably against Bayer Leverkusen.

Please Manu leave Costa alone, De Gea is a great goalkeeper resign him in respect of him, and what he has already done for Manu. Stop buying top expensive player’s, in hopes of trophies, money don’t buy games, or trophies. Why can’t Ten Hag use what he has, and make it a winning club. A good coach can like Sergio C. No one can save a team like that, it is up to the coaching staff , and owner’s , so looking into that.
