Mauricio Pochettino wants Mason Mount to stay at Chelsea amid Manchester United interest

Mason Mount is admired not only by Erik ten Hag but Mauricio Pochettino.

CBS journalist Ben Jacobs claims that newly appointed Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is eager for Mason Mount to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea agreed terms with the Argentine, 51, following a dismal end to the season under interim-manager Frank Lampard.

The former Tottenham Hotspur manager has been out of work since Paris Saint-Germain replaced with him Christophe Galtier last year.

However, Mount is still widely expected to leave Chelsea this summer, with Erik ten Hag pushing a pursuit he is confident he can get over the line.

It might not be straight forward since Pochettino told Chelsea during his interview that he wanted Mount to remain at the club, as reported by Jacobs.

Only time will tell if he can influence things and Chelsea also need to stay within Financial Fair Play rules after a heavy spending spree over the past 12 months as well as missing out on European football.

This will be one of the first jobs Pochettino will need to sort at Chelsea, so we’ll know more in the coming weeks.
