Erik ten Hag indicates that Mason Greenwood could still lead the line for Manchester United

Erik ten Hag believes Mason Greenwood could still play football at a very high level.

Questions are being asked over who going to share the goalscoring burden with Marcus Rashford next season.

In an ideal world, that would be Harry Kane but that might not happen unless Manchester United is sold.

Erik ten Hag won’t want a repeat of the January transfer window when he was forced to sign a striker on loan. We ended up with Wout Weghorst, who played a deeper role for the most part, scoring just two goals.

In an interview with The Times, Ten Hag was questioned about the struggles in front of goal and how he aims to solve the issue next season when we’re playing Champions League football.

Ten Hag will demand more goals from Rashford, who managed an impressive 30 this season, but that number would be also be achievable from another player in the squad if we got a deal over the line for Harry Kane.

The manager admits someone must come in and surprisingly named Greenwood as a possible option.

Speaking to Henry Winter, Ten Hag said: “What we need besides Marcus Rashford is one extra player with scoring abilities whether it’s coming out of our own squad or we have to sign one.”

Winter adds: “Erik ten Hag says Mason Greenwood has ‘showed in the past that he is capable of doing that’ front role, scoring 36 times in 130 appearances.”

“But emphasises it is not his decision as to whether he [Greenwood] returns.”

Greenwood has not played for United since January last year, when he was arrested and subsequently charged with attempted rape, controlling behaviour and assault.

The CPS confirmed in February that all charges against Greenwood were dropped, however, that does not make him innocent of these crimes.

That is why the club is carrying out an internal investigation into the matter before deciding whether to allow him return as a player.

  1. Mason Greenwood is a gem that ManUtd should bring back ASAP if they have to challenge Mancity,Arsenal, and Liverpool; These teams play entertaining high velocity football, and in MasonGreenwood that tempo is achievable.

  2. Yes you can bring in Greenwood but he cannot be said to be a solution in front of goal atall. A top striker in the class of Harry Kane or Victor Osimen is highly needed.

    1. Why can’t we Man UTD fans believe on Mason instead of eyeing Harry it is not easy for Hotspurs to release him because they won’t be able to replace him.And about the Napal striker Victor he might end up flopping like Lukaku.

  3. I believe that Greenwood would really make a big change in our team and i know that for sure. Despite the fact that his own personal life and stuff that happened… Give him a chance. He really deserve that ball on his feet and be free again. Don’t let him go Erik please…!!!! Fight for that GUY!!!
