Erik ten Hag pushing confident pursuit of Chelsea star Mason Mount

Mason Mount has a year left on his contract at Chelsea and transfer rumours are picking up in regard to a move to Manchester United.

It should be noted that Liverpool and Arsenal are also keen on signing the England international, but reports in recent days suggest Mount’s preference would be to join United over those clubs.

The latest from The Telegraph suggests Erik ten Hag is pushing for United to sign Mount as part of a significant summer overhaul.

However, it is understood that Mount has yet to make a final decision over his future. Perhaps today’s news of Mauricio Pochettino’s appointment will speed up the process.

The report by Jason Burt adds that Ten Hag is confident he can persuade Mount to join his squad at Old Trafford ahead of next season.

When asked about the possibility of United signing Mount in the summer, former midfielder Roy Keane looked bemused in the Sky Sports studio and question whether he’d improve the side.

I also look at the team that played on Sunday against Fulham and think Mount would be a huge upgrade on Fred.
