Fan Talk: Who is Manchester United’s player of the season?

Unlike last season, there are a number of players you could put forward to win the Player of the Year award at Manchester United.

I put four candidates forward in a piece for BBC Sport – but I really wanted to select five. Bruno Fernandes sadly had to miss out.

The lads over at Stretford Paddock have had a similar debate here, although Fernandes makes the cut:

  1. At least 7 players deserve consideration which makes this year’s POY a hard pick, but by elimination, Cas (80) was the defensive jell we needed all year but the two red cards hurt the team, Martinez (77) had his ups and downs, and luckily Luke could fill in for him, and may have done a better job, Rashford (72) had the goals, but his scoring efficiency was terrible, Bruno (81)was Bruno but his defensive work was as good as Cas’s contribution, Ericksen (73) was hurt plus can’t do the 90 minutes, AWB (71) for his continued defensive effort, thus my vote is for Luke (83), forgetting his early season misgivings, he supplied great support of the left side attack, maintained the entry passing/assistwhen Ericksen was hurt, and as mentioned earlier swithched to CB when needed, and was just plain solid in defense while providing needed offensive spark. And a special call out for Sab’s as he filled in and rarely had a bad game. D’Gea (78) would have been the top candidate but he threw in some “clunkers”…..
