Bruno Fernandes says FA Cup result won’t diminish the success United have achieved this season

Bruno Fernandes has insisted that the FA Cup final result will not diminish the success Manchester United have already achieved this season.

The Red Devils have secured Champions League qualification and a top-four finish with a game to go, with their final Premier League fixture against Fulham now holding no pressure.

Now that the league position is all but wrapped up, Erik ten Hag will be switching his attention to the challenge that awaits his side next week – the FA Cup final against treble-chasing Manchester City.

It marks the first-ever Manchester derby cup final, so both sets of fans are feeling nauseous at the result regardless of their team’s form heading into the fixture.

Fernandes weighs in on United’s season

Still, Fernandes is adamant that Ten Hag’s first season has been positive overall and his opinion will not change after next Saturday, whether he lifts the trophy alongside Harry Maguire, or he doesn’t.

He said (via Simon Stone): “It’s a positive season, not successful because successful is different for this club. We won a trophy. We get into the top four. What happens in [the] final won’t change anything about [the] season we’ve done.”
