‘Big signings this summer’ – Luke Shaw’s transfer window prediction is music to United fans’ ears

Luke Shaw has reflected on the first season of Erik ten Hag’s tenure and looked ahead to a crucial summer transfer window.

Manchester United tackle their penultimate Premier League fixture tonight ahead of the campaign’s final day on Sunday.

A point against Chelsea would secure Champions League qualification, which is something that Ten Hag would’ve been adamant about achieving from the get-go.

United then have the chance to add another trophy under their belts after ending a six-year trophy drought with the Carabao Cup in February. They take on rivals Manchester City on June 3rd in the FA Cup final – a match that has both sets of fans sweating on the outcome.

Shaw touched on the season so far under the Dutchman, saying (via Football Daily): “I think teams around us can definitely see that United are coming back. First season under the new manager, I think there’s always going to be a bit of transition. It’s clear to see what he’s brought in and how he’s changed the way we think, the way we play.

“I think he wants to bring in a lot of intensity – everything he wants the team to do is high intensity. Wants us to be aggressive on the front foot, pressing as high as possible, but also with the ball. I think he’s made us better, we’re definitely more of a threat now with the ball and when we’re on the ball. It’s clear to see we’re going in the right direction and like I touched on before, we have to be challenging for the title. Definitely with the directions the manager is going under.”

New arrivals expected at Carrington

Bolstering the squad in the summer is crucial at Old Trafford and Ten Hag has already drafted his shortlist of which positions need reinforcements, as well as who may be best to fill them. Harry Kane has been identified as a suitor to the Red Devils’ striker woes, whilst the club are also actively pursuing wantaway Chelsea star Mason Mount.

On the prospect of new arrivals over the forthcoming window, Shaw added: “I’m sure we’re going to make new signings, big signings this summer, so hopefully we can get them done as quick as possible so they’re in for pre-season. Our aim for next season has to be winning the Premier League and the Champions League.”
