A Manchester United sale is unlikely to happen by the end of the 2022/2023 campaign.
According to The Telegraph, the Glazer family are yet to decide on a preferred bidder, despite encouraging talks with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and speculation that he may be leading the race.
Qatar-based Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani is deemed another contender, though talks between “various representatives” have “become tense” as of late. He reportedly lodged an 11th-hour bid earlier this week in one final attempt to sway the Americans towards selling their majority shares. It is, however, believed to still value the club lower than Ratcliffe’s offer.
Frustrations continue to grow at Old Trafford
Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag is keeping tight-lipped on the process, to the media anyway, whilst his frustrations continue to grow behind the scenes.
The summer transfer window is fast approaching and United are in dire need of reinforcements if they want to compete on all four fronts next season, however, the manager is left with his hands tied regarding his targets as he is currently left in the dark on a transfer budget.
The Reds have three games remaining before their season draws to a close, with the final match coming on June 3 in the FA Cup final. The window opens on June 10, but United’s rivals are already active on the market whilst Ten Hag is forced to watch on.
