Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani is hoping for a 100% takeover of Manchester United from the Glazer family.
Last night, the Daily Mail ran an exclusive report about Sheikh Jassim’s improved bid for the club as his Qatari consortium attempt to see off competition from Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
This came after widespread speculation that Sir Jim Ratcliffe had emerged as the Glazers’ preferred bidder. Although Ratcliffe is not trying to buy 100% of the club, it is believed that his third offer did value United higher than the Qatari.
There has been another update this morning — from talkSPORT — suggesting that the Qatari group’s latest offer is worth more than £5.5 billion.
The new package offered by Sheikh Jassim is said to be £4.8bn for a full sale plus ‘pledged investment’ into the club and local community.
The Qatari banker also plans to clear United’s debt of more than £500m — but it is believed that Ratcliffe’s offer for a reduced stake values the club at nearer £6bn.
I think it will come down to how much Joel and Avram Glazer want to remain at the club because we know already that the other siblings want out.
Furthermore, talkSPORT add that no preferred bidder has been named by the Raine Group, who are advising the Glazers on the sale process.
With the summer transfer window approaching, fans are growing impatient with the Glazer family. It’s been 18 years since they controversially bought the club.
