Manchester United open voting for Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award

Manchester United have opened voting for their prestigious Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award.

Fans can take their pick from any player across the squad that has featured in at least one competitive match this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo picked up the award in 2021/2022, whilst Bruno Fernandes was crowned the winner for two successive seasons in 2019/2020 and 2020/2021.

The winner will be announced on Monday, May 29, giving supporters just under a fortnight to cast their vote by clicking here.

In the first term of Erik ten Hag’s tenure, the Red Devils have put an end to a six-year trophy drought by lifting the Carabao Cup at Wembley and have the chance to add another piece of silverware in the first-ever Manchester derby FA Cup final on June 3.

The team are still battling to secure a top-four finish, which would see Champions League football return to the Theatre of Dreams next term.

Stretty News’ verdict

Whilst there are a number of worthy candidates, I think the most votes will be given to Marcus Rashford, Lisandro Martinez, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and Luke Shaw – all of which have been absolutely pivotal and irreplaceable in the squad this season.

We’ll have to wait and find out the winner during the club’s award night on the 29th. Other categories that will be celebrated include Goal of the Season, Players’ Player of the Year and Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year.
