Manchester United first team coach Eric Ramsay has been linked with the manager’s job at Blackpool following their relegation from the Championship.

It doesn’t come as much of a surprise either. The Welshman may be young for a coach, at 31, but his stock has quickly risen during his time at Manchester United.

On top of his work at United, Ramsay is the assistant coach for the Wales national team.

A number of sources have been able to back up claims that Ramsay is thought highly of at Old Trafford.

Blackpool are looking for a new manager to succeed Mick McCarthy on a permanent basis, after Stephen Dobbie stepped in on an interim basis at the end of the season.

The claims about Blackpool’s interest in Ramsay comes from The Blackpool Gazette.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Ramsay held talks with Blackpool back in January, but Erik ten Hag and co stepped in to prevent a move from having midway through the season.

Blackpool will look at this and consider how former United coaches have thrived elsewhere in the EFL this season. Michael Carrick has guided Middlesbrough to the Championship play-offs, and Kieran McKenna has led Ipswich Town back to the second tier of English football.
