Manchester United announce US pre-season clash vs Real Madrid

The biggest names in football will meet in Houston, Texas, this summer, when Manchester United face Real Madrid in a pre-season friendly.

The match is the latest to be added to United’s summer schedule and it will be held at the NRG stadium on July 26 – a day after we play Wrexham in San Diego.

Fans in Houston will get the chance to see the biggest club from England take on the biggest club from Spain, with an incredible 55 league titles between them.

This fixture has gone into the history books when the two teams met in a pre-season friendly in 2014 in front of 109,318 fans at The Big House, Michigan – the largest ever audience for a football match in the US.

Speaking about the fixture announcement, Football Director John Murtough told club media: “This is a huge game for our fans in the US, giving them a unique opportunity to witness first-hand one of the greatest fixtures in world football. We last visited Houston in 2017 when we played Manchester City in front of a huge crowd, and I know this match will be just as popular.

“Erik and his team are looking forward to spending time in the US and preparing for the new season by taking on first-class opponents such as Real Madrid. Our players will relish the opportunity to test themselves against another top European side as they get ready for the 2023/24 campaign.”
